Goodbye 5th Grade! :(

This is my final blog post in 5th grade! This year all went by really fast! My favorite thing about fifth grade is how everybody has been so nice this year! The teachers were really awesome, and my family knows most of them! I really enjoyed going on our science field trips and just everything we did this year! Ian excited for summer, and I can't wait to be a sixth grader, but I am really going to miss everything about fifth grade! This was an amazing experience, and I hope I will have this much fun in 6th grade! Also, I am really going to miss my home room teacher, Mrs. Trares, because she is retiring this year! She was an awesome teacher and I am going to miss her so much! (And all the other teachers of course:)   Goodbye 5th grade! I will miss you!

Baking Soda and Vinegar Experiment

In this investigation, we did an experiment with baking soda and Vinegar. We used three graduated cylinders and had 5, 10, and 15 milliliters of vinegar. I thought the ten milliliter will have the biggest balloon. My prediction was correct. We did not get the results we expected, because the results got larger and then went down again. We measured the circumference in centimeters. I hope to do this investigation again, because it was fun!

Windows on Earth IDL Project

I   I did a project in science class, and it was called Windows on Earth. I painted two pictures, one was of the Indian Ocean and another was of the clouds. I chose this project because I like to paint things and the pictures that I painted were really pretty and colorful, and full of science! It went really well because I got to work with my friends and co something I enjoy doing. I had success in making the picture and choosing my picture and getting my paintings done. I really didn't have any struggles with this project, although I did have some trouble getting the right colors for the paintings. I learned a lot during this project. One thing is I learned about where and when my pictures were taken. Another thing I learned is how to mix some colors to get the one that is just right. If I could do something differently, I would do the photo journal because that was my second option when we were choosing what to do. I would choose that because you get to go anywhere in the school and take a picture and say what it is, where it was taken, and what the date is that you took the photo on. I really enjoyed doing the windows on earth project.

These are the pictures that I painted.

Planet Earth Caves

We watched a video in science about caves. I made a cloud art of some words about the video.  The video was really cool and mysterious.

Windows on Earth

There are many facts to know about the ISS. (International Space Station) Do you know how high above the earth the ISS is traveling? 240 miles! 39 astronauts are on the space station right now! The ISS is traveling at 17,240 mph! It doesn't crash or fly off into space because of its gravitational pull. Those are some things to know about the ISS.

5 Bonus Points Atoms and Molecules

My class watched a video in science about molecules and atoms. To get 5 bonus points for our vocabulary test, we could write a blog post about them. Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space. Matter is made up of atoms, and atoms are very, very tiny. Nucleus or the center of a atom, is made up of protons that are made up of charge, and neutrons that aren't made up of any charge.  Helium, oxygen and gold are made up of one atom. Solid, liquid, and gas are stages of matter.  Metal is a better conductor than wood, and wood is a better insulator than metal. Color, odor, density, hardness, magnetism, and texture are properties of matter. That is some information about matter.
